Modeling and Analysis of Shock Reduction through Counterflow Plasma Jets

The study presents a numerical investigation of aerodynamic drag reduction by implementing counterflow plasma jet, emanating from the stagnation point an surface in supersonic regime with constant pressure ratio PR = 3 , and compares findings conventional opposing jet. computational is carried out solving three-dimensional axisymmetric Navier–Stokes equations for plasma-jet interaction. calculations are performed at free-stream Mach ( id="M2"> M ∞ = 1.4) sea level conditions. weakly ionized argon jet generated torch has temperature id="M3"> 303,975 Pa id="M4"> 3000 K . effect number angle attack variation on effectiveness also analyzed. results indicate that reduces more (in twice) compared to (nonplasma). gravitational, magnetic field chemical processes formation considered negligible. It inferred strongly depends upon temperature.
